Andrew Buckner

Andrew C. (“Andy”) Buckner is originally from Sylva and graduated from Tuscola High School in 1988.  He graduated with honors from Morehead State University in 1992, with a degree in music education.  After graduating, he served as band director at Smoky Mountain High School for several years.  Mr. Buckner left teaching in 1996, and received his law degree with honors from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1999.  While in law school, Mr. Buckner was elected to the Order of the Coif and served as an associate editor of the Kentucky Law Review.  He practiced in both Winston-Salem and Raleigh prior to returning home to Sylva in 2005.  Mr. Buckner’s practice focuses on civil litigation, including personal injury, construction litigation and commercial litigation.  He also handles traffic offenses, including charges of driving while impaired.

Mr. Buckner is a member of the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association and the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers.  He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in North Carolina, as well as the United States 4th Circuit Court of Appeals and the Tribal Court for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

Mr. Buckner is the son of Bob Buckner and Pat Buckner.  He has served on the Board of Directors for the Kentucky Law Review, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern North Carolina and is currently a member of the Full Spectrum Farms Board of Directors and the Sylva Rotary Club.  In his spare time, Mr. Buckner is an avid trout fisherman.
