Bill Coward

William H. (“Bill”) Coward has practiced law in western North Carolina continuously since his graduation from the University of North Carolina Law School in 1987.  His practice is devoted exclusively to the areas of civil litigation and criminal law, with cases involving corporate disputes, defense against condemnation of land by the Department of Transportation, personal injury and car wreck cases, family law and construction law.  He has been the Town Attorney for the Town of Highlands since 1999, and the Town of Webster since 2005.  He was admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina in 1988.  After graduating from Sylva-Webster High School, Mr. Coward obtained his undergraduate degree from Davidson College in 1981, Mr. Coward is admitted to practice in all courts in North Carolina, and the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina.

Mr. Coward’s other interests are music performance and recording in a variety of genres including jazz and bluegrass.

Mr. Coward is a son of the late Kent Coward, and Betty C. Stillwell.  He is married to Kimberly R. Coward, another lawyer in the firm.
