Robert F. Siler

Robert F. Siler was born in Asheville, North Carolina on 28 June 1937. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1955, and from Duke University in 1959.

He served on active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1964, spending his last year on active duty as officer in charge of the U. S. Naval Investigative Service Office, Saigon, Vietnam. He then spent several years as a special agent with the Naval Investigative Service and was attached to Naval Headquarters in London, England, for a four year tour.

He graduated from the Wake Forest School of Law with a J.D., Cum Laude, in 1975. While in law school he served as Associate Editor of the Wake Forest Law Review.

Mr. Siler has practiced law in Franklin since 1975. His practice has been a general practice, with an emphasis on real property, wills, and estate administration.

He has been active in civic, religious, and professional organizations. He is a past President of the Franklin Rotary Club, former member of the Macon County Board of Education, former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Angel Medical Center, former Senior Warden of St. Agnes Episcopal Church, and a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Diocese of Western North Carolina.

From 1994 to 2002 he was the 30th Judicial District Councilor to the North Carolina State Bar. He was President of the North Carolina State Bar 2004-2005.

He has been a member of the ABA House of Delegates from 2006 to present.
